This product is designed and produced in New Zealand and is sold in the UK by Logic. The Rocket is designed as a single row seeding unit and is ideal for small scale vegetable growers, seed companies and research institutions. Multiple rows can be sown by attaching the desired number of units to the standard 1.5m (59 inch) wide toolbar. Fitted with a new version of our proven electronic seed metering system, the Rocket can accurately sow a wider variety of seed types at a very affordable price.

Product features

Like our standard metering system, the seeding rate is controlled electronically, though the Rocket metering system has been modified so that it and the soil opener are a complete assembly. A wide variety of seed types, from fine lettuce seed up to larger seeds such as corn and squash, can be metered through the metering system to sow a single row. The gentle sponge feed system ensures seeds are not damaged and the transparent plastic hopper allows the seed level to be easily monitored.

The seed hopper is easily filled by removing the lid and pouring in the seed. Excess seed remaining in the hopper after the completion of seeding can be quickly removed by loosening a tri-knob clamp, lifting the metering system out of the chassis and pouring the seed out of the top - no expensive seed is wasted! Rocket soil openers are of the same proven design as used on Seed Spider Roller Seeders. The openers are designed to form an optimum seed channel with minimal soil disturbance. They form a very fine ‘V’ shaped slot in the soil for the seed. Soil from one row does not fall onto the neighbouring row, ensuring even seeding depth across the entire seed bed. Rocket soil openers are constructed from highly abrasive resistant plastic for durability and low replacement cost. Seed Spider Rocket units have a bed skid attached to the front and rear of the chassis, with the soil opener mounted in between.

The front skid levels the bed while the rear skid covers the placed seed with soil. The skids are reversible and are constructed from 15mm thick highly abrasive resistant plastic, ensuring a long life. The height adjustment sleeve varies the depth of the soil opener. The black tri-knob on the chassis loosens the sleeve so that the depth can be adjusted. Holes through the side of the sleeve indicate where the depth is set, and a clip is provided to mark the desired hole position so that a particular depth can be repeated with ease.

The category 1 & 2 A-Frame is constructed from mild steel and provides quick and easy attachment to the tractor. The U-bolt at the end of the spring steel arm clamps the Rocket unit to the toolbar in almost any position, so any row spacing can be easily catered for. A spring steel arm joins the Rocket unit to the toolbar with U-bolt clamps. The spring steel construction provides enough downwards pressure while still allowing for contour following of the soil, resulting in a consistent seeding depth.
