It began with small trailers engineered for some of the first three-wheeled ATVs in 1978, and it hasn’t stopped since.
Today Logic is the product of choice for owners of machines from Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Polaris, John Deere, Kubota, JCB and Kioti.

From a Northumbrian farm workshop to the leading name in ATV and UTV equipment.
Willie Rutherford, a Northumbrian farmer, began making agricultural equipment in his own farm workshop, solving the problems he met every day on the land.
Willie’s success developed quickly. He built the Logic Tractor in 1971; it was featured on national television and gave the manufacturing company its name.
A small factory and production team were established to make tractor-mounted farm equipment. The Logic yard scraper, with its “quick attach” system, and the Logic 56 Bale Snatcher were the first products out the door.
ATVs came over from the USA as recreational machines. The team at Logic recognised they had a place in farming, given the right equipment.
Logic ATV Equip was launched. After designing a suitable towing bracket and trailer, a huge choice of equipment began to emerge.
Logic became established on its present site in Hexham, consolidating the four sites that had existed before.
From here Logic developed several ranges of equipment for the agriculture, forestry, gamekeeping, municipal and equestrian markets.
A range of salt spreaders was developed, with a unique handling system for wet rock salt that proved both highly effective and commercially successful.
Another world-class development. The Contact 2000 weed wiper launched. Controllable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly, it set the standard every other wiper has aimed to match since.
The Logic range continues to grow with new products, fresh ideas and upgrades to existing models. Everything is still designed and manufactured in the UK, and there is always something new to get excited about.

Logic has its roots firmly planted in agriculture, because the need for these products arose from our founder, Willie Rutherford, living and working the family farm through the 1960s and 1970s.
The Logic tractor was the first “grand idea”, evolving from youthful enthusiasm and innovative thinking with little thought given to the practicalities. The ideas behind it were revolutionary enough to find their way onto the BBC programme Tomorrow’s World.
In the late 1970s, Logic recognised the potential of the ATV as a unique vehicle for UK agriculture. UK farmers led the world in adopting it as a way of getting about the farm, and Logic led the world in designing equipment that extended what those machines could do.
Today, users from farms to forestry work with a quad or ATV. Logic has always been at the leading edge, designing and manufacturing equipment that is ingenious, practical, robust and cost-effective.
